(AsiaGameHub) – Starting in March, Google Ads revised its gambling advertising guidelines for the United Arab Emirates. Under the updated policy, ads for online gaming and sports betting will be permitted in the UAE, but exclusively from operators authorized by the General Authority for Gaming Regulation (GCGRA).
On a global scale, Google upholds a restricted policy for gambling advertisements, which means:
- Gambling ads are allowed only in jurisdictions where gambling has been legalized
- Advertisers must hold local licenses and be certified by Google.
- Ad content must strictly comply with rules around responsible messaging and responsible gambling advertising practices.
To be eligible, operators must hold a valid GCGRA/Google Ads license and complete the required certification before advertising their services. Gambling can also be advertised in certain categories—including online gaming (e.g., games of chance), lottery, or sports betting—provided all applicable local regulations are followed.
As a result, the updated gambling advertising policy creates a more structured regulatory framework for governing gambling ads in the UAE, as it sets stricter rules for platform operators regarding advertiser eligibility.
